What is Attar?

Attar also known as ittar is a natural perfume oil that comes from botanical sources, such as herbal flowers, spices, or bark. Once obtained, this oil is generally refined into a woody aroma like sandalwood or amyris and then left to stand for years. The aging period can last from one to ten years depending on the plants used and the desired results.

Traditionally in many countries of the Eastern world, it was the custom of aristocrats to offer items to their guests upon their departure.

Attar has been produced in the ancient perfume town of Kannauj, India for hundreds of years and is still being produced in the same way today. All of our attar come from three friends a traditional distillery that has produced many attar over 8 generations.

Because natural plant extracts have long been recognized as offering a wide range of health benefits in various cultures and societies including the ancient Indian Ayurvedic system, in Greek medicine, in Umami medicine and among many other systems of traditional medicine in Eastern civilization Middle.
